About Olivia Uzan

A French-American attorney who built her practice at the meeting point of two legal traditions.

Her story

Twenty years in Paris, a decade at the US–France crossroads.

Portrait of Olivia Uzan

Olivia Uzan has practised in Paris for over twenty years as an employment attorney and an international divorce attorney. She is one of the few lawyers admitted to both the French and California Bars.

Seeing how many US legal questions French residents and citizens faced in their litigation — American citizens working for US companies in France, French nationals working for French companies in California — she sat for the California Bar to serve clients on both sides of the Atlantic, wherever they work.

Clients describe her as tenacious. She fights for them with fierce determination and has been repeatedly recognised among France’s most determined advocates. In a legal battle, she is the counsel you want on your side.

Her writing on family law and workplace rights has appeared in Le Monde, Le Figaro and Causeur — a reflection of a career spent not just practising the law, but questioning how it should evolve. Clients often say what they value most is simpler than any of that: a direct line to the person handling their case, in a language they’re comfortable in, from the first call to the last.

— Olivia Uzan

Transatlantic network

Partnered across the Atlantic.

For matters that cross borders, Olivia works alongside trusted US counsel — including the Derek T. Smith Law Group (New York), a firm focused on workplace harassment and discrimination. Clients benefit from coordinated representation on both sides of the Atlantic, from a single point of contact.

This network matters most when a case doesn’t sit neatly on one side of the ocean — a US employer with a French subsidiary, a divorce with assets in two countries, a dispute that could end up in either jurisdiction. Rather than handing you off, Olivia coordinates directly with US counsel so your case is argued consistently wherever it needs to be heard.
